It seems you copy-pasted the script into your terminal. Unfortunately, this is not the way to go.
You need to save the script as a &lt;em&gt;.pl&lt;/em&gt; file. For example: &lt;em&gt;test.pl&lt;/em&gt; 
Then you need to navigate to the directory (Save the script in your home directory if you&#039;re unsure how to do this)
And then run it in a terminal with either:
&lt;em&gt;./test.pl&lt;/em&gt; or &lt;em&gt;perl test.pl&lt;/em&gt;
